This debut is the big buzz of the moment. The other long-awaited HYBE girl group. They're under the ADOR subsidiary label which is being run by Min Heejin who previously worked with SM Ent. 
Interesting marketing choice to unceremoniously release this MV. No prior teasers. Then released four MVs for 'Hype Boy' which feature/introduce the 5 members:

• DANIELLE & HAERIN Ver.

Then the 'Hurt' MV was released too. And I believe there are two more coming in the next week or so. It's a NewJeans blitz! Sounding and looking great to me so far. They've got my attention.

I'm trying so hard to catch up with all the yearly and half-yearly playlists I'm backlogged on. Will probably get the 1st Half for 2022 posted first then gradually post the old ones on weekends. Getting there!

My picks for June are LOONA and JANNABI. The 'Flip That' chorus got me good. Favorite lead from LOONA since 'Butterfly' for me. JANNABI's just transported me somewhere else. So dreamy and serene. Gorgeous video as well.

Also really enjoyed ADORA, JO YURI, and SUNMI's entries for the month. I did quite like BTS's 'Yet To Come', but it's the vocal production issues as always. Loved the live performances they did though! Sounded great.

The reaction to this has been really interesting. Seems like there's a lot of disappointment that it's a more generic/standard pop sound. It's definitely more commercial so I guess I can understand that for folks who like their weirder stuff. But I'm basic and I can like something simple, fun, and catchy. I feel like this has stronger melodious parts and less of the discordant and/or monotone shout-y sound of their last few leads, which I had a hard time with.

Probably won't appeal as much to newer BTS fans who like the brighter pop sound, but the heavier rap/rock vibe was more typical of BTS's earlier stuff. I freakin' love this. It's the kind of thing I grew up listening to. Can't wait to hear the rest of the album out mid-month. Chapter 2 Bangtan, let's goooooo!
