[MV] Mamadol (M.M.D) - WooAh HIP
M.M.D was a temporary project group from a TvN reality show called 'Mama the Idol'. It's a bunch of women who were previously performers, but had children and stepped away from the industry to be parents.
The group includes: Kahi (After School), Park Jungah (Jewelry), Sunye (Wonder Girls), Yang Eunji (Baby Vox), Byul (kneeling), and Hyun Jyuni (actress).
Song is not my jam, but they're all fabulous.

[MONTHLY] Favorites for DECEMBER 2021
Catching up with monthly posts part 12.
Finally got through the year! Always love it when December produces a couple of favorites right at the end. IVE's debut with 'Eleven' has been stuck in my head frequently since release. Still love it. Then BamBam and Seulgi's super mellow R&B track 'Who Are You' puts me in an almost meditative mood. Great duet.
Also praise for MINHO's solo 'Heartbreak' with a similar dark R&B vibes as well as Moonbyul's collab with Seori, which is fairly explicitly about having sexy times with another woman. Well done, Moonbyul!

This is super fun and extremely Korean. LOL. Lots of stuff released today and I think this is my favorite.
I had to check that the title is in fact 'breath' instead of 'breathe'. It is. Pet peeves for 500 Alex. :P

Changmin is so known for his intense high tenor it was nice to have that lower part for the intro. Appreciate the dark gospel vibe for being quite a different sound from the current trends.
[MV] Hyolyn (feat. Jooyoung) - Layin' Low
NSFW-ish for typical Hyolyn dancing hotness. Think 'Dally'.
Was excited to have a new collab of Hyolyn/Jooyoung a la 'Erase' untainted by Iron. This is less of a duet though. Jooyoung plays a smaller role and his voice is produced in a way I don't love. Still nice.

[MV] GOT the beat - Step Back
Was waiting to see if this would have an MV beyond the 'stage video'. Nope.
Sooooo... when this project was announced it intrigued me, but I had the same misgivings I had for SuperM. A typical SM gimmick as a promotional vehicle hypetrain for their most recent groups, namely NCT and aespa. I felt it would come down to the song.
Oh god. It definitely came down to the song.
It's very in-line with SM's sound shift for their current generations. Very Frankenstein-y and throwing in some weird instrumental samples, along with Yoo Young Jin's 2nd gen R&B influence in the vocals and bridge parts. In this case, the weird samples are godawful. The discordant church bells (?) are genuinely terrible. And the lyrics, which are supposedly Yoo Young Jin's writing, are women-dissing-women over a man, which is a miserable choice for such a powerhouse group of women. Girls On Top, uh huh.
They all look great. And I lived a little for the BoA/Hyoyeon/Seulgi dance break, but that's about it. The choice to make a focused performance video is pretty much the only positive here. What a waste.
[MV] WOOZI - Ruby (Eng.)
I don't know a ton about Seventeen, but Woozi seems to have a huge influence on the group's various productions/performances so it's nice to see him getting a solo debut.
[MV] Jay Park - To Life
Jay is stepping down from AOMG as CEO. Said he wanted to head towards retirement a couple years ago (?) so seems like he's in that process.
