Quite liked this when I first listened to it a few days ago. Just today got a chance to stack up the most recent releases and was about to start posting when the news hit about Shinsadong Tiger (link to Soompi's article about his death). Had to handle that over on r/kpop for a few hours before I could get back to this. And here I am posting what was probably one of the last productions that will be released of his.

Absolute giant and legend in the industry. I'm still in some shock. He was only 40. Hell.

Feel terrible for TRI.BE and LE (EXID) for having worked with him so closely in recent years. :(

Pretty strong debut. Donghwa was going to be in ATBO, but some misbehavior/bullying from his school years came out and he decided to leave the group before they debuted. I remember it for being one of the best official statements I've seen from a company/performer. Seemed solidly repentant and wanting to make it right and move on.

The sequence of notes for the "She makes me blackout" part reminds me so literally of another song, but I can't think of it for the life of me. Fudge.

[MONTHLY] Favorites for JANUARY 2024

2024 commence! January was a strong month for R&B. Some nice ballads in there too. So busy working on r/kpop's Annual Awards results I haven't finished my '23 list yet. Close. Determined to get it posted by at least some time in March.

Picked a couple of the more pop/livelier tracks even though I was super into some of the more chill stuff like Lim Jisoo's ballad. So we've got NMIXX's 'Dash' on top. It's catchy and the rhythm having those little hang-ups, or whatever those are called, is interesting. Also MiU's 'TWENTY TWENTY', which is kind of a basic pop song, but I dig it. LIMELIGHT will be adding new members, but they released an album as three members with some solo tracks. I think there is a fully Korean and fully Japanese version of this track, but the MV here combines both into one track(?), which is pretty clever for promotional purposes.

Love this. Got that French café vibe. And the video is lots of whimsical fun. Nice to hear BIBI do more stuff in the jazzy range. It was great to see Chang Kiha in the MV and he's all over the song credits too, which makes so much sense. I miss Kiha & The Faces.
