Visually this feels like the gold counterpart to Tayeon's silver 'INVU'. This is probably my least favorite track on the album. Still pretty solid and a great performance!
The sun/moon combo! Solar and Moonbyul subunit. Pretty cute. Don't love the intense vocal filter on BIG Naughty's verses. Feels out of place with how chill the rest is.
Like the chorus a lot. Verses are a little bland, but overall nice stuff from Twice. Haven't listened to the album yet, but I'm seeing a lot of positive responses.
No clue how E-40 got involved with this. LOL! Took me back to like '06 during peak 'hyphy' in the bay area. APOKI production continues to be shockingly good.
Some flashy light stuff throughout... and fireworks.
This one feels like it has the least ambitious production of IVE's stuff so far. I wish the vocal melodies matched the energy of the disco sample track more. Doesn't have the overall bright/exciting vibe of something like EVERGLOW's 'LA DI DA', which kind of has a similar thing going on. Still a fine song though!
Oh boy. The teaser had looked pretty enticing... but this is rough. BlackPink's stuff is typically not my thing, but I can usually appreciate a characteristic sound even if it's not for me. However, this is like the empty shell of what Teddy's production formula has always been. I liked the traditional instrumentation and that's where the positives end for me.
I think I'm even more disappointed with the MV. Looks like it was expensive to make, but the editing cheapens it with so many rapid-fire cuts. BP's MVs are eye-candy and this one could have been if the cuts weren't so distracting and disorienting. That just seems lazy to me.
Still only a pre-release though. The album will be out in a month. Maybe the lead at that time will be stronger and more cohesive.
Might as well post the performance video since that's probably the cleanest MV we'll get for it. I guarantee this will be one of my top songs of the year. Easy. Choreo is also fire.
I appreciate that Yunjin was allowed to produce/write an original song for release so soon. As much criticism as I have for HYBE as of late, this smacks of some healthy early choices made by BigHit for BTS. Hope to see more of this from Source.
It's nice that it's a straight pop song and not some Frankensteiny thing. I don't have any particular attachment to SNSD, but I did watch them debut so I had some feels seeing them all together as grown up ladies now. The album is quite good. The 2nd half especially. Everything from 'You Better Run' to 'Paper Planes' was pretty jammy for me.
Only BTS's vocal line: Jin, Jimin, V, and Jungkook. Lyric video is more fun, imo. Very typical benny blanco so it sounds like a bunch of other hits he worked on. Nothing groundbreaking, but it has been stuck in my head for three days.
