[MV] BTS - 2.0

Feels like deja vu. Last big set of MVs I caught up with ended on SWIM. I'll end on 2.0 today... still a couple weeks behind. As much as the vocal production (as always) annoys me in this one and the chorus is too repetitive for me, the performance is fucking rad. Bangtan being thoroughly Bangtan with the energy.

I had cracked up so hard seeing the teaser for this with such a literal Oldboy reference to that famous fight scene. So seeing the whole MV completely commit to that fully, truly delighted me. Great cinematography, great styling, great idea, great choreography, great execution, great elevator interlude. That whole section from the elevator to RM's verse with the rest lined up doing the canon and sideward slides. Perfection. Fun shit.

[MV] BTS - SWIM (Eng.)

Because I'm so behind I've had almost 3 weeks of experience with Bangtan's post-military comeback album. The vocal processing issue persists and is ever-present throughout. I've truly given up ever getting to hear another BTS album without it. But that aside, I thought this was a really interesting choice for the lead track. Maybe the mellowest lead they've ever had. Even Spring Day wasn't this mellow. Just One Day might be the closest, but I think that was technically a B-side. Anyway, quite the choice. Preferred the later performance versions of the MV. As lovely as Lili Reinhart is, I'm here for Bangtan choreo. It does have really pretty choreo. Also mellow. The tracks I like the most are Body to Body, Normal, and Swim. The rest is a little too plagued with trendy/shallow English lyrics. Makes it killer for virality and use on social media, so it will do well, but not my personal jam.

[MV] TABLO X RM - Stop The Rain (Eng.)

Yeeesh. I've been behind catching up with music. Normally I would still immediately listen to anything from either of these guys, but Tablo had prefaced this on social media to let everyone know it was really heavy and personal. They had recorded it well before RM's military service, but Tablo held onto it because it was so intimate/dark he was apprehensive to go through the release process with RM being away. But eventually RM asked him about it and gave him the nudge. So on release day all I read was a bit of the lyrics and made the decision to hold off because I was dealing with too much last week.

Finally hearing it for the first time. Heavy indeed. Glad they collaborated for something like this. Really beautiful and important. Feels like it would fit right in on RM's 'Mono' album. Grateful and appreciative to Tablo that he took protective care of RM's work on this. That's a good dude.

[MV] Jin - Running WIld (Eng.)

Pop rock really seems like the perfect lane for Jin, imo. I do wish it was in Korean though. Still have to listen to the rest of the album.

Also, what a beautiful dog!

[MV] Jin (BTS) - I'll Be There

This feels well-suited for Jin. Nice to have him back from the military and doing his own stuff. Looking forward to the album in a couple weeks.

[MV] Jin (BTS) - Super Tuna

The man is back from the military with a full version of Super Tuna, which was a just a short goofy thing he did for his birthday before enlisting. The dad-joke energy is back back back again.
Can't wait to see what an actual album by Jin would sound like. We'll find out soon!

[MV] Jimin (BTS) - Who (Eng.)

The usual BigHit vocal production nit-pick, but I quite like the song and the choreo is killer. Just love watching Jimin move. The rest of the album is pretty solid, too. Need to listen more.

[MV] JIMIN (BTS) (feat. Loco) - Smeraldo Garden Marching Band

Pre-release ahead of his 2nd solo album. Love the vibe and instrumental. The track has that BigHit vocal production I don't love, but it's not too bad. The big group dancing shots are great and Loco is cute in there. So far seems like this album will be brighter/happier compared to 'FACE'. Looking forward to it!

[MV] RM - LOST!

Another excellent/wild MV. The whole 'Right Place, Wrong Person' album is incredible. Not a commercial pop record in the slightest. Lol. Shit is weird and wonderful. My dude was exorcising some serious public pressure demons. It's really great.

[MV] RM (BTS) - Come back to me

The full song is 6 1/2 minutes long. It's the length of like 3 hit title tracks these days. LOL. Giving no fucks about popular trends for his solo work. That's Namjoon for ya. Funny. The video is so beautiful. It has the colors/textures of the art he likes and the general design he chose for his studio and home. Song-wise, Oh Hyuk was involved in the production which really stands out to me. The chillest vibes.

[MV] j-hope (with Gaeko, Yoon Mi Rae) - NEURON

So good! Love Tasha and Gaeko on this. Hobi's whole HOPE ON THE STREET album he released to go with his dance documentary is really awesome. If you liked his Hope World album I'd highly recommend it. Nice collabs in there.
