[MV] BLACKPINK (with Selena Gomez) - Ice Cream
The MV turned out really cute and fun, but I just can't figure out the track. It feels like the entire thing is a pre-chorus repeated over and over with a rap part thrown in. I'm glad that it's outside of the same formula that BP has been hitting on too much (imo), but it seems really flat/underdeveloped.
[MV] K/DA - THE BADDEST
Riot Games/League of Legends with a new K/DA track.
(G)I-DLE, Bea Miller, and Wolftyla this time.
[MV] Khundi Panda (with Hippie was a Gipsy) - Home
Some effects/makeup artist had a wild time with this video.
[MV] Rosy (feat. Grizzly) - Escape
This bunny character instantly made me think of The Noid. I'm old. XD

[MV] Kim Yohan (with Zion.T) - No More
Official channel link
Bubbly and interesting track. Zion.T is the producer, but he also has little vocal bits in there.
[MV] The Rose - Black Rose
These guys have basically gone independent after a pretty nasty dispute with their former company. I think one of them is doing military service now, but it's good to see they're still managing to release some music. I really hope they're able to keep going. Such a great band.
[MV] YEH (feat. Meaningful Stone ) - FLWRS
Older release (end of last year), but new to me. I like the vibe.
Love that Billy Stewart sample.

[MV] BTS - Dynamite
Minus the vocaloid-esque production, this would be a perfect song. As is, hard for me to listen to.
It's a blast of happy vibes though. Appreciate that.
Sounds a little less harsh on Spotify.
I love the hell out of the instrumental.
[MV] ONEUS - TO BE OR NOT TO BE
Kinda bloody and gun violence-y.
Official channel link
Cool rhythm changes. Aside from the rap part, one of the best boy group tracks I've heard this year.

[MV] Yoon Jong Shin (feat. Kingo Hamada) - You're Right
Great art/animation in the MV. City pop is having such a huge surge.

[MV] ITZY - Not Shy
Not into the track, but I like the MV treatment a lot. Always appreciate ITZY's performance energy.
[MV] Dreamcatcher - BOCA
Tells ya something when even my least favorite DC lead track is still pretty awesome. XD
Really like the rock parts, but this one feels more Frankenstein-y than their stuff usually is and I'm not so into the sections that sound really different. Still cool.
[MV] NeD - Twinkle
Don't really know who this dude is, but this song is excellent. So happy feeling!
[MV] JAMBINAI - SUN. TEARS. RED.
Whoa! Didn't expect an MV for this one. Sun Tears Red is so intense. I love it.
[MV] Seokkeung X LOVETOM - SUNGLASS
Bothered by the narrative of the video even if it's self-deprecating. Lol.
Song is fun though.

[MV] SuperM - 100
I could just quote everything I said in my Jopping post.
It's a sliiightly better MV, but still feels like some great performers buried under production budget.

[PLAYLIST] KPOPPY's first half of 2020
This year... what the hell is this year?!
Gonna try to focus only on music for this post, but I (and the rest of the world) have been on such a rollercoaster that I feel like this playlist is going to be cobbled together from superficial enjoyment ... more than usual anyway. It has been hard to pay attention and listen to full albums and curate more thoughtfully since the start of the year. And, of course, the industry has also been disrupted, so it's a whole mess. Phew.
The 'noise war' trend has carried over from last year. Bombastic brassy EDM fanfare still dominates the idol scene. Strong vocal effects and autotune are still in fashion to my despair (heeelp!!!). Outside of that, lots of strong R&B stuff, which I've appreciated.

[MONTHLY] Favorites for JULY 2020
Dude! July seriously showed up! This is the first time I'm packing my list with stuff I really really love this year. The whole thing! I have three top picks, but so much of the full list could be up here as well. A few more male idol groups were also in contention (DONGKIZ, VERIVERY, and SF9), but they were cut in the end and the ladies ended up dominating again. 1THE9 is hanging in there... bittersweet since they'll be disbanding imminently.
Hadn't encountered NAYN before. Nice groove. If you like her, also check out U Sung Eun's release near the end of the month. Then we've got Hwasa's gorgeous ballad and Crush taking us to OHIO with a jazzy performance piece. Very happy with the month overall. Gave me a bit of a much-needed refresher!
In the full post: SANDEUL, CHUNG HA, IRENE & SEULGI, YUKIKA, Hoody & Bronze, BIBI, J PINK & J BLACK, GFRIEND, PinkFantasy, Jeong Eun Ji, 1THE9, LEE HI, U SUNG EUN, Eric Nam, and KEEMBO.

[DEBUT] TREASURE - BOY
The chorus completely took me out of this... just like BlackPink's HYLT. Obviously using the same family sounds in the production studio.

[MV] TAEMIN - 2 KIDS
Pre-release.
Cool sound, but I'll be so happy when heavy vocal effects go out of trend again.
[MV] SSAK3 - Exciting, LINDA, and Luv Us
Putting all three releases in one post!
SSAK3 B.Ryong/RAIN (feat. MAMAMOO) - Exciting
(Genre: EDM Pop, Latin)
SSAK3 Linda G/Lee Hyori (feat. Yoon Mi Rae) - LINDA
(Genre: R&B, Rap)
SSAK3 U-Doragon/Yoo Jaesuk (feat. S.B.N/Kwanghee) - Luv Us

[MV] Swervy - Did It Like I Did
Wouldn't recommend if you're squeamish about blood, wounds, medical procedures. It's mild and pretty goofy-looking, but still...
[MV] AHN YEEUN - Trumpet Creeper
Might be age restricted for you due to horror elements. It has 'Paranormal Activity' vibes throughout.

[MV] sEODo - Night Sea
Hajiseol is a project album with zemean, Susan, and sEODo making their own version of the 'Night Sea' theme. All three artists are featured in all three MVs.

[MV] (G)I-DLE - DUMDi DUMDi
It's like SPICA's 'Tonight', Red Velvet's 'Umpah Umpah', and Shakira's 'Waka Waka' had a baby.
