Really like this That look with the braids seems.. medieval-inspired? Like 13th-14th century Europe, but in contemporary streetwear? Fascinated by that one.
That ended up being way more elaborate than I would have expected. Pretty fun honestly. Still loving the track. Had it stuck in my head a lot this week.
This group is being formed on MBC's show 'Extreme Debut'. Kinda combines the usual survival audition show format with physical/mental 'Survivor' type challenges. Don't know much about it or what the end goal is for the group, but the production for this track is pretty solid.
There'll be remixes and an MV for this eventually, but I'll post the lyric video now. It's on Coldplay's album so BTS are just guests on it and don't have many lines, but OH GOD THERE'S NO GARBAGE VOCAL EFFECTS ON THEM. And they sound a million times better than most of their own work from the last few years. Jungkook's opening line melted me into a puddle. What a damn shame that his voice is so stripped of character on their albums. Missed it so much.
Catching up with monthly posts part 7. Almost there!
Seemed like everything was packed into June. July was a little less exciting, but there was some fine stuff in there still. Peakboy's jam was my easy favorite. Gets me dancing. Also putting Dreamcatcher up here although this isn't one of my favorites from them.
The main project to remark on was AKMU's collab album. The whole thing was great, but it had quite a dark feel.
In the full post: AleXa, JEON SOYEON, TAEYEON, Sound Kim, meenoi/Loco, HA:TFELT, Sam Kim, En, WOOJEEWON, AKMU, SURAN/Wonstein, DPRLIVE/Beenzino/HwaSa, SEVENTEEN, SWJA, NIve, BIBI/Tiger JK, Kwon Jin Ah/PARKMOONCHI, and JANNABI.
Almost had to immediately bail in the auto-tuned intro part. What a strange song. Can really hear Yoo Youngjin's typical sound during the R&B/singerly parts. The rest is... something.
Intermittent bright flashes in here, like camera flashbulbs.
Killer. Tight video too. A lot of SUMIN's recent stuff was too full of auto-tune/vocal effects for me, but this is getting back to more the groove I originally fell in love with her for.
Didn't have much expectation because YG, but I did feel like Lisa was the best opportunity to have a BP solo with a lot of focus on the member's greatest strength. She's a fantastic visual performer/dancer... but this MV does nothing for her. You can have a simple point-dance, but what an oversight to not give her a section to go off and show what she can do for her debut. The strongest bit is with all the Thai cultural imagery/dress/jewelry and it's so short. The rest feels like a mess of too much with no focus at all.
Love! LEE HI's whole album is great. I feel like I say this every time, but Yoon Mi Rae elevates everything she's on. It's a given. Even a basic verse sounds amazing just for her tone.
GAME (TAG & JiBeom), Out the Window (DaeYeol solo), That Feeling (Seungmin, Donghyun, Jaehyun), POPPIN, (Y& JAngJun), Singing In The Rain (JooChan & BoMin)
