Cool to see the thematic continuation from Daechwita. The color in this MV is really great. Only listened through the album once so far (very distracted by the loss of ASTRO's Moonbin), but Polar Night and Snooze stood out. Snooze is the Ryuichi Sakamoto track with Woosung on vocals. Pretty amazing.
Was pretty hyped to see another Suga/IU collab, but it turned out a bit puzzling? IU's part sounds like something created for a demo. Like how singers will just hum or sing random words to get a sense of the melody before they have proper lyrics. Odd. Still curious to hear the rest of the new Agust D album when it releases.
Quintessentially PSY. Still cracking up about SUGA's involvement. He was just going to produce the track and that would be it. Ended up roped into rapping on it, appearing in the MV, hamming up some acting scenes, learning choreo, and performing it in the mass dancing scenes. PSY basically pulled a BangPD on him, promising he wouldn't have to dance when first putting BTS together. LOL.
As always, I love an unabashedly traditional Korean instrumental. This one is a little more accessible in sound compared to Shadow from the last BTS record. Really enjoy the video and the cameos from the other members (lol!).
My favorites on the album (Spotify) are 'Burn It', 'Hansool', and 'Dear my friend' which has Jongwan's (NELL) vocals on it.
Here we gooooo!
This gets the theme across really strongly. It's like a conversation between Suga's persona and his shadow (Jungian archetypes), so it getting really uncomfortable and intense at the end is a very intentional conceptual choice. I'm into it, not really for enjoyment, but just for what it all represents. He has been very outspoken about how brutal/scary their level of fame has become.
It's almost going to be two full months of BTS hype leading up to their next album. They are fusing Korean and Western promotional methods by releasing a few songs with videos, then releasing the full album, then the big MV... all spaced out over time. It's super interesting!
'Persona' was the intro, 'Shadow' here is the interlude, and 'Ego' is likely to be the outro for the whole Map of The Soul era. Probably J-Hope on that one.
Nice collab. Love Lee SoRa and Suga's voice works well with her.
It was produced by Tablo and it's unusual for me to not like his work, but the insistent beat is grating on me. Lol. Everything else is lovely.
This is Suga from BTS. He just released a mixtape [Soundcloud].
Apparently the name is 'D Town Suga'... backwards. D Town referring to Daegu.
Interesting solo project.
My favorite track on the mixtape is the collab with SURAN. Pretty cool.
