Both LE SSERAFIM's 'Crazy' and LISA's 'New Woman' kinda have the same thing going on where they aren't necessarily my thing, or have elements I don't love, but other parts are so nice that I still like them quite a lot.

Fell terribly behind all my normal schedules for a few reasons... one of them being keeping the r/kpop HYBE/ADOR Megathreads updated. Geez louize. Gonna try to mass catch up at the end of the year here.

July was actually awesome. Loved a lot of stuff. Picked some stuff a little outside the mainstream for the top. Lee Seungyoon's rock track 'Waterfall' with a super satisfying melody and energy. Sunwoo JungA's 'STAR CANDY' is one of the tracks in her oeuvre that leans pop and is delightful. And then An Shinae with the gorgeous and bare piano ballad 'Hold Me Now'.

Well, this was an unexpected delight.
Something about it reminded me of OH MY GIRL's 'Closer'. Kind of ethereally dark, but with a comforting or hopeful lift. This one is overall darker, but yeah, the vibes.

Beautiful MV as well. And I love that slowly paced hip roll for the chorus. It's kinda strange and feels more like a contemporary movement than an Idol one. Nice contrast with the fast, sharp, bits for the instrumental dance break sections.

This has been out for a few weeks, but I keep coming back to it. Wanted to show it some love with a post. NMIXX had a fantastic Tiny Desk. Brilliant arrangements by the band and excellent vocal choices for the setting and different styles. And the thing I love the most is that there is basically no post-production to clean up or perfect their voices. Feels like I'm back in 2nd gen with that beautiful raw sound.

I'm not someone who gets super bent out of shape about how hyper-tuned everything in K-Pop has been for like a decade now. It's the way it is. Probably an inevitable industry-shift that can't be stopped. But god I love it when the full character of what singers are doing can be properly heard. I'd rather hear little quirks and breaks and off-notes than a machine. Dancing your ass off? Okay, machine it up. But standing at a mic? I wanna hear ya! Thankful to NMIXX and co. for doing this. They sound fabulous!
