Man... this group had really built a lot of momentum. They had a birthday livestream for one of the members early last month and used a "hip hop" theme that was handled about as badly as it possible could have been. Sprinted at full speed into a bunch of racial stereotypes. Fucking *rough*. When you follow K-Pop for a long time you understand you are going to run into some culture clashes and ignorance of this nature, but holy shit. It was really bad. Not sure how much of their American/western audience they're going to hold onto after that foolishness.

Yeeesh. I've been behind catching up with music. Normally I would still immediately listen to anything from either of these guys, but Tablo had prefaced this on social media to let everyone know it was really heavy and personal. They had recorded it well before RM's military service, but Tablo held onto it because it was so intimate/dark he was apprehensive to go through the release process with RM being away. But eventually RM asked him about it and gave him the nudge. So on release day all I read was a bit of the lyrics and made the decision to hold off because I was dealing with too much last week.

Finally hearing it for the first time. Heavy indeed. Glad they collaborated for something like this. Really beautiful and important. Feels like it would fit right in on RM's 'Mono' album. Grateful and appreciative to Tablo that he took protective care of RM's work on this. That's a good dude.

Looking back, I lost a lot of steam at the end of last year. Burnt. Out. So. Bad. Picked RM and Balming Tiger for the top. Just kinda semi-indie hip-hop/rap vibes that defy genre to close out the year. Will I ever catch up to the yearly playlists I have backlogged? Not likely. 😆
