[MV] BTS - ON
Now for the actual MV.
Really epic. On reddit I said it has very "'Toss a coin to your Witcher', Maze Runner, Noah's Ark, 'Everything the light touches... energy'". Lol. The video is so organic in terms of setting that it makes me wish even more for vocals that weren't so processed. Kinda clashes, imo. But hey, I appreciate the ambition of the piece.
[MV] JAMBINAI - ONDA
Always love Jambinai, but this might be my favorite since 'Time of Extinction'.
[MV] LIM KIM - MONG
MONG was probably my favorite track from Lim Kim's new stuff. I like the twinkly instrumentals that come in. Kinda has Bjork Medulla vibes.
[MV] AleXa - A.I TROOPER
Taking a leaf out of BTS's book and releasing a 'comeback trailer' that's almost a full song.
[MV] Henry - Thinking of You
The track gets pretty cool when he brings the violin in. I think this is the kind of track I always wanted Henry to do.
[MV] AHN YEEUN - KAKOTOPIA
Cool blend of a more traditional singing style with a contemporary track.

[MV] BTS - ON (Kinetic Manifesto Film : Come Prima)
I'll start with the positive. Amazing location, stunning choreo, beautifully shot, awesome dance team, cool epic track, and I quite like the styling. Massively looking forward to live performances of this. They're doing a ton of shows in the States and all kinds of interesting promo stuff. Exciting!
What else is there? Well, it's the vocals. And maybe it's always going to be the vocals now. This is... a hard pill to swallow, but I guess now is the time. I'll put my thoughts in the full post.

[MV] Dreamcatcher - Scream
Official channel link
The verses and raps are a little monotone for me and I wish the video wasn't quite so flash-y/over-edited, but that's nit-picking. Everything else about this is amazing. The chorus is glorious.
[MV] IZ*ONE - FIESTA
Back from the brink! The aesthetic of the MV is all over the place. Kinda interesting.

[MV] Moonbyul - Eclipse
Nice to see Moonbyul go off in a very different direction for solo stuff. The song's not really my thing, but it has a fairly strong melody/hook in the chorus.

[MV] flor_us - Alive
Was wondering what happened to this group. I highly recommend sticking around for the bridge on this one so you can share in my utter confusion.

[MONTHLY] Favorites for JANUARY 2020
It was a really slow start to the year for me. Not much caught my ear. My top choices were the pH-1 collab with Yerin Baek on 'Nerdy Love' and the previously unknown-to-me outside of features, Jhnovr with 'U'.
Nerdy Love is all feel-good vibes, Yerin's lovely voice, cute animation, and a 'fun'(?) topic lyrically. Unusual at least. Then Jhnovr, which I haven't the slightest idea how to pronounce, has this quiet, dark, R&B track for maximum chill. He's rockin' a cool/odd look throughout the MV as well, which I'm here for.
I considered BTS's Black Swan for the top, but as you know, autotune destroys my soul. If that wasn't present, it would be one of my favorite songs and pieces of promo material I've ever experienced in K-Pop, especially including the orchestral version. I actually prefer that one to the album track. Featuring contemporary dance like that is super rad. Made me happy.
In the full post: DONGKIZ, ATEEZ, YOUNHA, SUGA, SUZANNE, ENOi, Insooni, BTS, Bandgrin, Crush, and Balming Tiger.

[MV] LOONA - So What
This epitomizes all the big girl group trends over the last year. Like a hybrid of the BLACKPINK/EVERGLOW/ITZY sounds. Totally not my thing at all, but it's well made and the MV is gorgeous-looking.

[MV] BTS (J-Hope) - EGO (MAP OF THE SOUL : 7)
As predicted, Hobi with the outro.
I love the hell out of this!
All happy sunshine vibes, which I needed this week. There's also only a touch of autotune right at the beginning and then it drops out entirely. Woo!
