This comeback was my most anticipated of the year and I'm left feeling fairly disappointed, ... with the MV at least. I love the song and it still has the Mamamoo vibe I love, but man, I wish this video wasn't so disorienting and creepy. Like you said, I could do without the harassments and drugging.
The storyline is inexplicable, frantic, and troubling at times. It also bummed me out that my favourite members were buried under prosthetic make up and often bumbling around on the floor. Poor Wheein looked ridiculous and was usually left in the background eating ... for comic relief? I don't get it. Now I'm praying for a version of the MV that drops the weird storyline and focusses on them just performing without looking like extras from The Klumps.
I'm a fan of Mamamoo because they are bold and different, so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised when they do something different to stand out. I don't know if this is going to appeal to a wide audience, but hopefully it will garner some attention and earn them more fans.
Hear hear! I had the same reaction. I adore them. Great performers. Great sound. Love the doo wop stuff. But this shifted to being more like generic pop. Fun, but mostly generic. And the MV is a mess. I'm pretty sure they were going for comedy, but it made me so uncomfortable! I wish it had been purely about the gender switch in a fun way. But then it's sorta date-rapey and the molestation is over-the-top.... ugh. Totally killed it for me.
Hopefully they'll be able to follow this up with something awesome and NOT CREEPY! XD There'll be a bunch of huge girl group comebacks over the summer and this will probably be forgotten. It's just way too clumsy. Mamamoo deserves better.
